Statement
Build Three New Pools City Council and Park Board have long known that Mount Pleasant, Hastings Community Centre, and Marpole are ideal places for pools, yet… nothing. OneCity will solve Vancouver’s 50-metre pool problem by exploring new options for Mount Pleasant, Hastings Community Centre, and Marpole as locations for new pools to serve the community. If those sites are no longer suitable, we’ll focus on locations near transit lines where community needs can be met. This work pairs with our One Britannia plan, which helps solve our pool problem right out of the gate with a major project on land that can be adapted seismically and safely for an aquatic centre. In the meantime, OneCity will explore the feasibility of converting existing outdoor pools into year-round facilities, so our neighbours can enjoy a swim right away instead of waiting years for the problem to be solved.
