Vancouver council commits to build South Asian cultural centre (opens in a new tab) Update Published Nov 18, 2024

Vancouver Is Awesome reports that Council unanimously supported the need to build a South Asian cultural centre, but the commitment had no budget, timeline, or location. A future staff report was expected to answer those questions, while Councillor Lenny Zhou described a desired City contribution of one-third of capital costs. The report also notes that Mayor Ken Sim was asked to advocate to the provincial government, but it does not identify the commitment as ABC Vancouver-derived, so the promise remains unknown under the attribution rule.
