The City reported on February 27, 2024 that Council committed to measures supporting more mass timber buildings. The new rezoning incentive allows buildings in areas permitting 8 to 11 storeys to qualify for two additional storeys and buildings in areas permitting 12 or more storeys to qualify for three additional storeys. The City also said a Zoning & Development By-law incentive would increase permitted height, and quoted Mayor Ken Sim. This verifies a Vancouver mass-timber measure but does not identify ABC Vancouver or an ABC-majority initiative as the actor, so the promise remains unknown under the attribution rule.
